Kodokan Hostel is to offer accommodations for those who have Judo training at Kodokan. All guests must adhere to these rules, respect the spirit of Kodokan Judo, observe good manners, and not make a nuisance to other guests.
Qualifications/requirements for hostel use:
- Kodokan membership holders
- For Judo training purposes such as attending regular training sessions, winter or
summer courses, seminars, tournaments, meetings, and the like. - Judo trainees for purposes other than the above
- If there is a vacancy, it may be available for other purposes.

- Special single room (with bath) ¥8,800/night/person
- Special twin room (with bath) ¥14,300/night/room
- Dormitory room (without bath) ¥3,300/night/person
- Convertible bed ¥3,300/night
- If there is a vacancy, it may be available for other purposes.

- We start accepting your reservations 3 month ahead of your desired dates of stay.

You are requested to read through and abide by the following.
⚫ Persons under 18 years of age may stay at the hostel only when they are accompanied by a parent or an adult leader.
⚫ The maximum period of stay is 3 months: special permission is necessary for a further extension.
⚫ Please advise the General Affairs Department beforehand of your estimated check-in time. Our official check-in and check-out times are as follows:
Check-in: between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. (If necessary, guests can check in until 0 a.m.)
Check-out: between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
⚫ Please return your room keys to the security office on the basement upon check-out.
You are to be charged with ¥5,000 for compensation in case of a lost key.
⚫ Please pay your room charges by credit card through the Internet in advance.
If you cannot pay in that way, please pay the charges upon your arrival by cash in Japanese yen.
⚫ Curfew: Midnight
Please use the basement entrance of the office building between 10:00 p.m. and midnight. The basement entrance is locked at 0:00 a.m. and is not open until 6:00a.m.
⚫ Visitors are only allowed in the 3rd-floor lounge space before 10:00 p.m. Please do not invite someone into individual rooms or dormitory rooms.
⚫ Please handle the furniture and fixtures of the hostel room with care. The guest who causes damage to them on purpose or by accident will have to make full restitution for the damage.
⚫ Please do not cause any nuisance to other fellow guests.
⚫ Indoor smoking is strictly prohibited.
⚫ Carrying easily flammable and explosive objects into the room is prohibited.
⚫ In case of fire, please report to the security office in the basement (ext. # 982).
The evacuation route from your room is shown on the back of your door. Please make sure of the route upon check-in.
⚫ Evacuation area in an emergency is in front of the police box at Kasuga-cho intersection.
Tips for your stay:
⚫ Available time of shower rooms on the 3rd floor are as follows:
7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (please do not enter after 1:15 p.m.)
4:00 p.m. – 11:45 p.m. (please do not enter after 11:30 p.m.)
⚫ There is no meal provided at the hostel. Cooking is prohibited except in the common
kitchen on the basement floor. The kitchen is available from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
and from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Please pick up a kitchen key at the security office
in the basement. When you use fire in the kitchen, please handle it with care.
⚫ Coin-operated washing machines are available on the 3rd and 4th floors. A judo-gi
drying room (dedicated to judo uniform) is also available. Please do not hang clothes
in public areas. If you want to use a clothes rack, please ask at the security office.
You may use coin-operated drying tumblers near the hostel.
⚫ Please use public phones for making phone calls. There is a phone box in front of
the hostel.
⚫ Foreign exchange is available at Mitsubishi UFJ Bank between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00
p.m. on weekdays.
⚫ Cash advance services of major international credit cards are available at ATMs of
the post office in Bunkyo Civic Center Building (8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on weekdays/
9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays) and at ATM of Seven Eleven
nearby.
⚫ Kodokan Shop is open from 12:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday.
Concerning weekend and national holidays, please ask the staff)
⚫ Towels are provided only in rooms with baths. Other amenity items are not provided.
⚫ Bed making service is provided only for individual rooms (single/twin). For a stay
longer than five days, a cleaning service will be provided on the third day and every
fourth day after that. (schedule may be changed)
When you use a bed in a dormitory, please make a bed for yourself. Cleaning staff
will empty trash boxes.
⚫ Free WiFi (wireless LAN) is available under the conditions shown below:
The WiFi is available only on the 3rd floor. No other floor service is available.
Do not change the wiring or setting of the wireless LAN device.
Do not let other people use the ID or the password. Do not lend or give them to
anyone.
Do not use or provide any harmful program through the Wifi.
Kodokan is able to revoke the permission for the use immediately without prior notice
if the user is considered as inappropriate.1
Kodokan will not accept any liability for any loss resulting from the following:
- Providing, delaying, changing, discontinuation or abolishment of the Wifi
- Any loss of user data that is registered, provided, or collected through the Wifi
- Any damage of the user’s PC caused by computer viruses
- Data corruption or leakage
- Or any other damages that are related to the use of the Wifi
